Chalet Reit im Winkl: Private Sauna, Hot Tub and Fireplace in the Bavarian Alps

Chalet Reit im Winkl is a holiday home in a quiet spot on the southern edge of Reit im Winkl, in the Chiemgau region of the Bavarian Alps, close to the border with Tyrol in Austria. You have a private sauna, a covered hot tub on the terrace and a fireplace with glass on two sides. A stream, woods and hiking trails start at the front door, and the “Loferau” cross-country ski trail is approx. 50 m away. The chalet sleeps up to 10 guests, and dogs stay free of charge.

The chalet is the newest of our three holiday homes by einfach mal durchatmen. We, Jochen & family, furnished it and are there for you during your stay by phone, text message or WhatsApp, in German or English.

Private sauna, hot tub and fireplace

The sauna is on the lower floor, with a relaxation room and a shower room right next to it. You use it all year at no extra cost. Sauna towels are provided; please bring your own pool slippers.

On the terrace is the covered hot tub for 2 to 3 people. It is heated all year, and you set the temperature yourselves. A combination lock makes it child-safe, and quiet hours are from 9:30 pm to 7 am. Jochen checks the water quality himself before every arrival.

In the living room the fire burns behind glass, visible from two sides. Firewood is included.

Four bedrooms, two with a gallery

• Upstairs bedroom with panoramic window: double bed 180 × 200 cm, direct access to the bathroom
• Two upstairs bedrooms with a gallery: each with a double bed 160 × 200 cm and a gallery bed 140 × 200 cm for 1 person, access to the shared balcony
• Lower-floor bedroom: double bed 180 × 200 cm, own desk

The galleries are under the sloping roof, with a height of approx. 90 to 140 cm, and are reached by a narrow staircase. They have a railing, open only at the top of the stairs. Children and adults both use the gallery beds. All bedrooms have blackout curtains, and the beds are made up when you arrive. Travel cots are available free of charge on request.

Living, cooking and bathrooms

The living and dining area with open kitchen has room for all 10. The kitchen is fully equipped, with a cooking island, oven, dishwasher and bean-to-cup coffee machine. Organic coffee and tea are included. In the living room there is a smart TV with home cinema sound.

Upstairs, a bathroom with bathtub and walk-in shower serves the three rooms on that floor. On the lower floor there is a shower room right by the sauna, and on the ground floor a separate toilet. Underfloor heating and central ventilation keep the air fresh, which allergy sufferers appreciate. A washing machine and tumble dryer are there.

Hiking from the front door

A stream, woods and hiking trails start right at the house. The Kleine Talrunde (4.7 km) works with a pushchair too, and the Loferauen circular trail is 5.8 km. In summer the hiking bus is free with the guest card, and bikes can be kept behind the house. In September the village hosts the Mountainman trail run.

Cross-country and downhill skiing in Reit im Winkl

Reit im Winkl is known for reliable snow. The “Loferau” cross-country trail is approx. 50 m from the house, and there are over 200 km of trails in total, free of charge. The Benzeck lifts with a magic carpet and nursery slopes are approx. 5 min by car, or by village bus in winter, and with the guest card you ski there for €1 per person per stay. The Winklmoosalm/Steinplatte ski area with 42 km of slopes is approx. 10 min by car.

Skis go in the shed by the car park, and there is a boot dryer for your ski boots.

With children and with your dog

Travel cots on request and 3 high chairs are free of charge. Toys, games, books and a box of outdoor games are there, and all sockets are covered. There are no stair gates, changing mat or baby monitor, and the garden is not fenced.

Dogs stay free of charge, please let us know in advance. Walks start by the stream and in the woods right from the house, and a bowl and poo bags are provided. Sofas and beds are off-limits for dogs, and they may stay alone in the house for short periods.

Guest card with extras

The tourist tax is included in the price, and you receive the Reit im Winkl Inklusiv-Card. In summer it gives you free entry to the Reit im Winkl outdoor pool, the Kössen forest pool and the Walchsee lakeside promenade. At the Vita Alpina in Ruhpolding you get 50 % off the 3-hour ticket, the village and hiking buses are free, and you ski at the Benzeck for €1 per person per stay.

Location: Reit im Winkl in the Chiemgau

The chalet is on a quiet residential street at the edge of the Loferau, the meadows along the Lofer stream. Car-free meadow paths lead into the village.

How many people does the chalet sleep?

Up to 10 guests, most comfortably 6 to 8. Two of the 10 sleeping places are gallery beds, used by children and adults alike.

What are the gallery beds like?

Two upstairs bedrooms have a gallery under the sloping roof with a 140 × 200 cm bed for 1 person. The height is approx. 90 to 140 cm, access is via a narrow staircase, and a railing secures the gallery, open only at the top of the stairs.
